Biopharmaceutical company Regeneron was founded in 1988, by physician-scientists in New York, USA.
Still led by physician-scientists today, the company employs approximately 13,500 people and provides products to over 100 countries.
100% of its drug candidates were invented and developed in-house and they’re currently reporting around 35 product candidates in clinical development.
The company was ranked number 2 in Science magazine’s list of Top Employers for 2024.
Regeneron in Ireland
Regeneron moved into Ireland with the opening of its European business office, in Dublin, in 2013. It also announced that Limerick would be the site of its first manufacturing plant outside of the USA.
In 2014, the Limerick site began manufacturing.
Today, the company employs approximately 1500 people in the country.

Launched in 2014, the Industrial Operations and Product Supply (IOPS) facility is a 64,000 square metre production facility.
The company has invested in the site a further three times since then – first in 2015, again in 2017, and most recently in August 2020.
