Picture this… you open Google and search “new FDA approvals this week”.

Your top result is a random aggregator site repackaging the news secondhand, while the FDA’s own announcement – the actual primary source – is buried further down the page.

That’s the default experience of Google Search. The algorithm doesn’t know which sources you trust. It just knows which ones rank.

Google’s “Preferred Sources” feature changes that.

It lets you tell Google directly: these are the publishers I want to see.

Once you set your list, those sources start showing up more prominently – in Top Stories, in a dedicated “From your sources” section, and even inside AI Overviews and AI Mode.

For pharma professionals, that’s a genuinely useful upgrade.

Instead of hoping the algorithm surfaces trustworthy industry-specific reporting, you can build your own shortlist of sources you already trust – and have them follow you into every relevant search.

Setting it up takes two steps:

  1. Add publishers you trust to your Preferred Sources list.
  2. Google prioritizes those publishers whenever you search.

Below, we’ve put together our recommended list of Preferred Sources for pharma, along with a direct link to add each one to your own.
